The parents association of St. Patricks national school would like to say a big thanks to all those who helped raise an amazing €2160 yesterday 2/12/12 at the Xmas Market & Live crib event held at moorlands equestrian centre. For all the parents & volunteers who gave up their time to help out by baking cakes, donating toys and of  course attending the event we gratefully thank you for your support. For all the local businesses who graciously donated raffle & auction spot prizes we send out a big thanks. For the kids choir who sang so beautifully on the day, for our auctioneer Oisin Barrons who stepped in to help us out following a last minute cancellation another really really big thank you.  Without the Trojan efforts from so many it would not be possible for the parents association to continue assist school funding and ensure our kids receive a wider range of  school activities than would otherwise be possible.

As this is the 60th An Tóstal there is a special focus on history this year. Crafts displays, vintage cars, tractors and machinery will be displayed for all to see during the afternoon and evening. Six o’clock brings the Annual parade through the town with all of its usual colour and fun with our MC this year Kevin Blessing. After the parade Nemo will be performing his very special magic show in the market yard. Music returns to the forefront after that with Matrix and Late Nite Radio performing live and free on the streets.

Friday evening, June 1 at 7.30 pm all eyes turn to the Shane McGettigan park where Allen Gaels take on Drumkeerin to decide who will reach the final on Monday at 6pm. Later on at 8.30pm in the Vocational School Eamonn Daly and Noel McPartland will reprise their highly entertaining and interesting talk on Drumshanbo in the 50’s. Admission is free and all are welcome.

On Saturday, June 2 the Lough Allen Education Centre (Beside the Lough Allen Hotel) is offering free taster courses in Canadian canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing. What better way to enjoy all the natural amenities we are blessed with and perhaps fall in love with the water!

The annual Children’s Day will take place at Moorlands from 3- 6pm, and this again is free! Face painting, inflatables, and eliminator games.

With the children tired out time for the adults to enjoy the festival and no better way to do so than to dance the night away to Jimmy Buckley at the Barn Dance. Tickets, priced €15, are on sale at Gibbons’ Centra, Scollans’ Gala, McCormacks’ Mace, Moorlands, and the Lough Allen Hotel and Spa.

Sunday, June 3 in Drumshanbo is jam packed with activities for all ages. The fun begins at 10.30am with the Lough Allen Course Angling competition (shore) and continues at 12 noon with a clay pigeon shoot on the galley bog. The annual dog show takes place in Moorlands Equestrian Centre at 2.30pm. There will be free bouncy castles in the Market Yard from 4 to 8pm with Nemo le Magician performing his magic on the streets and free face painting from 5.30pm.

Sunday night will be finishing on a fire theme when after dark we will welcome FirePoise fire performance group and their stunning Puridai Flame fire show. Featuring some of the best fire artists in Ireland, this show has wowed audiences across the country. The skilled fire dancers move and circle through patterns of fire, all accompanied by a fabulous gypsy jazz soundtrack.

To round off the day there will be a spectacular fireworks display over the town. All in all a fun filled weekend of events for all the family with only the barn dance a pay per view event.

What more could you ask for? Don’t miss Drumshanbo’s 60th An Tóstal!
